About Us

Chistenson Law Office, PC is a full service law firm with an emphasis on estate planning, business formation and civil litigation including cases involving alienation of affection in South Dakota.

Robert A. Christenson is a 1984 graduate of the University of South Dakota School of Law. He received the South Dakota Bar Association Trust and Wills Section Writing Scholarship, and was named a Best Lawyer in America in 2001 (Best Lawyers Consumers Guide). He holds a Bachelor of Science degree (1973) and a Master of Arts in Public Administration (1975) from the University of South Dakota.


Mr. Christenson has written two books on volunteerism; Keeping Things Simple and Volunteering is For Winners, and has published two articles on the legal aspects of volunteering.

He has served as a speaker for the National Business Institute and co-authored Drafting Effective wills and Trusts (2007) and South Dakota Probate: Beyond the Basics (2008).

Mr. Christenson has served as president of the Minnehaha County Museum Board of Trustees, the Minnehaha County Chapter of the American Red Cross, and the Washington Pavilion Advisory Committee. He served as secretary of the Washington Pavilion Board of Directors.

He is a member of the South Dakota State Bar Association and is a practicing member of the United States Federal District Court, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
